Advice for a really greedy beastlord

Well... I am the one. A Greedy beastlord... I'm a greedy man too. So, rescently i thought, why should I pay forr all those extra bits from the warherd box (especially the old one) if you never get to use them? Well, maybe you use a couple of hands for some mordheim brute conversion, or, probably a spawn, maybe you'll even glue some of the ungor heads to your 40k Chaos space marines. And that's it? I decided to stop that waste and clear out the piles of bits I've got on my shelves.
As new gors in Beastmen army became rank and file instead of being skirmishing, and the upcoming Warhammer FB edition encourages making a HUGE blocks of infantry, I decided to make a 5x1 rank unit filler. It seemed especially handy as my already glued and painted beastmen gors, made for a previos edition always have a trouble to make a formation, as I didn't try to achieve the goal of fielding them rank and file then.
Another issue from the upcoming edition is that shields may become more usefull, and good old additional hand weapon is usefull for sure. So, as I really like the look of "overequipped" troops, I decided to make my new gors both with two hand weapons AND shields. I already tried it on my paintin competition-winning warherd. But then I just made them hung with weapons and holding a shield, of vice versa. Now I decided to get some use of my extra bits, which seemed to be useless before. Its a Chaos after all! How can a beastmen suddenly turn into spawn, If he is not preparing for that throughout his all life?
So here is all u need. A file, a bits from warherd box, modelling knife, glue, greenstuff and sculpting tool. A piece of wire is always usefull if you are going to convert alot too.
Now, the work on the beastie. You just cut and glue... Cut and glue,,, Again and again... And again.
If you are using the old warherd box, you may encounter the serios lack of left arms. It is not a problem when you are making just a few models like this, but I'm planning a whole lot of theese guys, so it is vital to get some. You may try to use bits from other boxes, but the goal is not to get new, but to use the existing ones. So here's what I've done: I took the right arm, and cutted away the hand (as it is the most obvios difference between left and right arm) and swapped it to the weapon blade... Or how do you call that striking part of a blunt weapon?
Now glue the "normal" left atop of our "cutted" one... And you get a great three-armed-goat-with-two-LEFT-arms =)

Add some greenstuff
And now it ready!
Note the second face, I'm thinking of painting it "dead"... Or maybe not.
Here is the whole unit filler. Note the importance of wires, as it is obvios now. The guy in the middle is not too heavily converted to make all 5 gors fit onto a 5-men base. Also the base will be painted in modeled in such way that this gor would look "jumping".
Note the use of few other bits- palmless ork arm with pick instead of hand, shield made of plastic card (with skull and beastmen horns. this one used to be my beastlord's shield, but he got a better one) and a spawn's tentacle.
By the way, as this gors look bigger than the normal ones, you can put only 4 for such a unit filler. That was my original idea, but damn i LOVE the look of really tightly packed blocks of troops. They look mightier than those, who have almost an inch distance between the models.
So, i hope this will be usefull for someone. And check this blog when theese guys will be painted!

Renegade of Hashut

Now, before I sell my small, but beloved Chaos Dwarfs army, I want to share some pictures, and, of course, the review on how the army was made. Maybe someone will find it usefull.Long long ago, in The Before times I decided to collect a Chaos dwarfs army. To be honest, those "Before times" have nothing to do with those even earlier times, when Chaos dwarfs used to be a whole-oficial army with their separate (and up-to date) rulebook.
It happened with the release of the "Battle for the skull pass" starter set. Or, actually with the release of a white dwarf with goblin and dwarf models glued onto its cover.
As I played O&G army before, and I was thinkig of playing it in the future, I was pretty sure that even a single night goblin would surely find its place and purpose amongst my green hordes, but I had no idea what to do with a dwarf.
At that time I just quit playing Warriors of Chaos army, and been thinking about something new and rare. The obvios choice were the beastmen. Even now this army is not considered to be main stream one, and several years ago noone really played it at all. Moreover, I had some beastmen from the times when mortals and beasts could be mixed in a single army.
And that was when it stroke me! Dwarfs and greenskins... Greenskins and dwarfs... Merge perfectly into a CHAOS DWARFS! After that I bought a few Battle for skull path dwarfs and started the business. Here is what the result was:
This dwarf unit was the first thing I did (except the dwarf lord, but we'll talk on that later. Purely BFSP dwarfs, GS, weapons from different other armies, bannertop from 5-th edition chaos warriors and yeh! The ork shoota barrel as a musicians tube. Nothing complex and extremely fun to work on those.
My next step were the blunderbussers. They are a MUST HAVE and, if you want, a face of each and every CD army. No CD general leaves home without them, as apart from their combat effectiveness, they have very unique rules, look and feeling. Theese guys are converted from BFSP Thunderers mixed with GS and screws. Yes, normal screws from a hardware store! One was pinned onto their head and another (smaller one) into their hands. Most of bluderbusses and hats are screws. The bigger ones are clubs from Ogre bulls. But damn, that's a waste. Only the "champions" have them.
Artillery is another thing, similar to blunderbusses. Unique chaos-dwarven feature. Earthshaker is made of GS, BFSP cannon and ogre bulls champion's gutplate. The bolthrowers (I've got two of those, but they are the same, so just a single photo) are from the rackham range, as they are the cheapest BT's u can find, at less than 30$ per 3 (they have human crew, but those guys have lots of purposes apart from CD army). I used gnoblars from ogre bulls box as a crewmen, because of their poses. One is targeting, another brings ammo. This "loader" is slightly converted to hold a bolt in his hands instead of a club.

And no, of course, a few words on heroes. First- the mage. He's made of BFSP slayer, a nail and a skull. As you can see he represents a fire mage, and I wanted him to look like a pyromaniac. Why no clothes? Well, he burned it to ashes of course! GS is included as usual.
The red hero is a massively GS project on a base of Rackham dwarfs hero. His face, head and fiery shield are totally self-modelled. The colour scheme was chosen to represent the "armor of furnace" from CD magic items list. The hero's original sword was swapped to a halberd from old chaos warrior.
Apart from this guys, I've got a shadow sorcerer.. But, well, the photo is not ready yet.
So, hope u like it, and look for it on ebay.

A bit of a review. Beastly warlock

Well, lets start with something We've already done. Of course, you could have probably seen theese pics before, but anyway, this step-by-step is something I'm really proud of, so, take another look =)
And damn, I don't find it easy to work in this blogspot, especially when talking about transferring images from free hostings, so that's why all pictures can be found in previos "transfer" post.
From those (yeah, I'm still talking about pictures) you can see and compare the original concept art, and the final product in resin. It differs alot, but after all... That's a concept.
Now I'm working on some extra kit, that can make this "beastly warlock" into a butcher-styled warrior. The pic are going to appear soon of course. As well as the painted version of this guy of course.
Comments are always welcome, of course.
And yeh! You can buy it here!
