WIP chaos forsaken

this is my new project. Chaos forsaken. I know they don't perform well now, but Damn I like theese guys! If they won't play well in next edition, I'll use them as warriors for Kludburgh Savages army from Warhammer RuleBook

Getting elite with Greedy Beastlord

Hi!
Many of us play friendly games, use special characters, invent homerules and so on. All theese alterations often lead to a situations where we need more models that we actually have. Often we want our models from the same unit look more diverse, than just a HUGE block consisting of several same boxes of warriors.
And sometimes we want to save money.
Being a greedy beastlord, I still wanted to play an all-elite beastmen army. Fortunately our book gives such a possibility. Special character Ghorros the Warhoof moves our centigors from special to core, leaving special for bestigors only (this is the way I like it)
But it is a really really expensive to create an army like that. Moreover, when I started making my all-elite army, official centigors were out of stock, as metal ones were out of production, and finecast ones were not ready yet.
The time brought disappointment, since 10 bestigors (and I needed 80 of them) cost 33 euro, and 10 centigors- 104 euro (ouch!)
Hard times encourage hard solutions. I took a box of gors for just 20 euros per 10, and asked all of my friends to give me old armored warhorses. Everybody think they are crappy, short and way too old, everyone is trying to get rid of them, so this is not a problem to get number of those noble beasts.
And now I'll tell you how to merge this two useless miniatures into two elite and expensive (both points and money-wise) soldiers in your all-elite army.
First, to keep it simple, I decided to sculpt as few elements as possible, also I'm using as little spare bits as possible. For example, plenty of people who use such horses to make centaurs try to get rid of "saddle area". I decided to keep it "as is", since it looks logical, that a horseback carapace should have a flexible area. That seems realistic and helps you to avoid extra sculpting.
So here are two starting figures and some extra bits. I won't use all of them, but I couldn't tell that beforehand
IMG_4991
Here are not only beastmen gor and a horse (without a tail) but also spare head, spare arms (from gor box) but also chaos marauders cape and shoulderpads, and some ogre bulls' bits. None of them are rare, but you can make a nice model without them. Though cape and shoulders for bestigors are essential, that saves alot of greenstuff, and (more important) sculpting time (remember, we need tonns of bestigors)
IMG_4995
IMG_4996
First we sculpt a carcasses for missing plastic parts, and create the overal look. I used cheaper greenstuff analogue, it costs 8 times cheaper and dries in 2 hours completely.

Ready for battle! Or actually ready for painting. So, check the new entries soon.

Converted and kitbashed. Champion haven't got a single part from marauder's box. Legs are from chaos warrior, torso and hands belong to beastmen gor and his head is from mounted marauder =). Gem, and some other parts are greenstuff.

some more converted marauders

Since new CSM are in urgent need of spawns because of boons (and because of spawns' increased performance) I decided to make few of theese disgusting creatures =) It is made of dire wolf and torso\head and a heap of wires. Doesn't look too good right now, but it is going to be extremely cool when the paintjob is done. Enjoy

Some scenic based made of some cheap putty while watching TV. Easy to make, nice to use. Just need to apply suitable "slaaneshi" paintjob

With new Chaos Space Marine codex right ahead I started to work on my Emperor's Children army once more. Here is a new model that I converted and painted today.
Yes, it is a ForgeWorld preheresy marine AND beastman gor head AND a secret weapon- self sculpted sonic blaster. I made some copies of this fancy weapon, so I'm planning to make more noise marines with this fancy thingy =)

Banelegions chimera

An attempt to paint awesome Banelegions chimera. It is uncomfortable to assemble, and it is weird to paint, because it has TOO GOOD detail level.
The pics were made before I made finishing touches.

Chaos army (work on comission)

One chaos army I paint and convert for my friend. Some models are straight from boxes, others are converted or revitalized from his former chaos army that was painted about 10 years ago and doesn't look good nowadays.
So here is a BSB. It used to be a dragon rider long ago (yes, this guy was standing on the dragon's neck :). I gave him bretonian shield, bloodletter's sword (from bloodcrushers sprue) and a banner made of two chaos marauder's bannertops (I love them!) The eye on the banner was my friend's idea. He wanted "an eye that doesn't look real, and which is inside the chaos star".
So here it is =) Enjoy.

And here's the very same guy accompanied by 12 khornate halberdiers. Enjoy =) There are 2 similar photos, and I couldn't decide which one I like more (though both are of rather low quality)

my current WIPs

I haven't posted anything for a while, so in my WIP's I'll not only unveil my current projects, but also show off some (actually one) project that is finished and show something really ancient stuff, that was abandoned for several years but now it is going to be finished for some reasons I'll discuss later.
So, here is something I managed to finish, and something that even has its price ($5 each)
A first gnoll.

And another, newer gnoll which is going to be finished in a couple of weeks. Theese two guys' parts fit each otherm so you can swap their arms and heads. And soon they'll get a third dude, and a champion. That's for sure.

By ganzknapp at 2012-01-29

Now some older stuff, which is still going to be finished.... Actually it is older than gnoll #2, but younger than gnoll #1... So it is not that old, even though I stopped working on it about a year ago. An orc warboss. Huge guy which is going to be fielded in my warhammer orcs and goblins army. I call him the Deader.
This pic is of rather poor quality, but damn it is a sneak preview! So consider it a spy shot, or whatever you call it.

And something really old, it even looks outdated, but I like the facial impression, and since Chaos Dwarfs finally got an official army list, I want to revitalize this guy. So. Meet Bullcentaur!

And wait for updates!
